I believe in the power of stories. Creativity, imagination, and make-believe are essential building blocks in life. Stories can help us understand the world we live in and also transport us to a different life than the one we know.

Award-winning director Leah Patterson grew up in the western suburbs of Sydney, Australia. She was the first in her family to attend university, attain a passport and travel.

She works as a Dubbing Director, collaborating with English language voice casts on foreign content shows. Series include Physical 100 (#15 Netflix Top 20: 2023 total viewership, #1 Netflix Global Top 10 TV), In The Name of God: A Holy Betrayal, Run For The Money, History 101, Zombieverse (#5 Netflix Global Top 10 TV). All shows currently on Netflix.

In 2021 she was one of eight global filmmakers selected for the Australian Screen Forum’s Women in Screen Workshop. In 2020 Leah was chosen as a director for Ryan Murphy’s Half Initiative, she shadowed Producing-Director David Grossman on 911 Lone Star. She was named one of 2019’s Top 10 Women In Film To Watch by Diversity In Cannes.

Her film Bridget and Iain was based on the play of the same name by Norelle Scott. At the Short+Sweet Festival the play won Best Play and the People’s Choice Award presented by the City of Los Angeles. Leah was awarded Best Director of the 60+ play festival. The film’s actor, Damian Sommerlad, was awarded Best Actor at Diversity in Cannes.

She directed Oracles & Miracles, a play written by Norelle Scott, based on the best selling novel Oracles and Miracles by Stevan Eldred-Grigg. The production marked the 30 year anniversary of this powerful novel and the North American debut of the play, which won an Encore Producers Award at the Hollywood Fringe Festival.

Leah was the Literary Manager for Los Angeles-based Australian Theatre Company, curating and producing their popular annual Summer Reading Series. She is a graduate of the University of New South Wales (BA in Theatre/Film & Philosophy) and acting conservatory William Esper Studio in New York City. Leah had a previous career in finance on Wall Street. 

A supporter of other women in the industry, Leah has hired diverse women in key roles when she has had the opportunity. She has volunteered with the Alliance of Women Directors (AWD), on the committee for their Works In Progress program, sponsored by Canon.
